• What size is Styrofloor?

  Styrofloor is 2400mm in length by 600mm wide. Approx 8ft by 2ft

• What is the weight of Styrofloor?

  Each Styrofloor panel weighs between 18Kg to 26Kg (40lbs to 57lbs) depending on the foam thickness.

• What thickness of Styrofloor is required?

  This will depend on two important factors. If the project is subject to Building Regulations then there will be a need to achieve a certain thermal performance i.e. U value. In this case, refer to our Insulation Properties section. If the project is not subject to Building Regulations then you can choose whatever thickness you can accommodate in your construction. The thicker the panel the higher the level of energy saving.

• Are there any other product options?

  Styrofloor is available in bespoke thicknesses to better suit the application and/or thermal requirement. Styrofloor can also be supplied using 22mm chipboard where heavy foot traffic is anticipated. Contact our Sales Office for more details on 0114-2495635

• Is the product BBA approved?

  Styrofloor is BBA approved, certificate 92/2783. Panel Systems is also approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 certificate no. 22174

• Is Styrofloor resistant to moisture?

  Yes. The chipboard grade is suitable for humid conditions. Styrofoam is a closed cell foam and therefore resistant to moisture.

Installation

• Are fixing instructions available to download?

  Yes. See our installation page.

• Will Styrofloor require fixing to the floor?

  Yes, if the floor construction is timber. On concrete floors, Styrofloor is laid as floating floor system and therefore does not require fixing to the floor.

• What if the floor is uneven?

  If your floor is not level then use sharp sand to fill up to a max. of 10mm. Over 10mm use a self-levelling compound.

• What types of floors are suitable for Styrofloor?

  Styrofloor can be used on most floor construction system including concrete, beam and block and timber. In the case of timber, the joist widths must be 50mm min.

• I have a U value to achieve, which thickness do I need?

  Refer to our detailed How To Buy pages which provide a simple calculator for selecting the Styrofloor thickness. If required we can provide a detailed calculation to support the required thickness. Please contact our sales office on 0114-249563

• Can I lay ceramic tiles over the Styrofloor?

  Yes. The choice of adhesive and grout should be for a floating floor and the Tile distributor should advise of suitable brands.

• Will the floor construction require a damp proof membrane?

  Yes if required by the floor construction.

• Will a vapour control layer be required?

  No. Styrofloor is laid without a vapour control layer.

• Can I use electric matting UFH over Styrofloor?

  Your UFH supplier should advise on it’s suitability for installation on a floating floor.

• Can Styrofloor be cut?

  Yes. Use a fine tooth power saw or similar.

Delivery & Collection

• How is Styrofloor packaged?

  Styrofloor is supplied on a timber pallet with polythene protection. It is recommended that Styrofloor is stored flat prior to use. Styrofloor must be placed in the area of application for a minimum of 24 hours prior to installation.

• How is Styrofloor delivered?

  Styrofloor will arrive on a commercial vehicle. Where small quantities are required then off-loading manually is likely. For larger volumes, on-site forklift facilities will be required. Special vehicles e.g. Hiab, can be prearranged with our sales office for an additional charge. Give us a call on 0114-2495635.

• What is the likely delivery time on Styrofloor?

  Standard Styrofloor panels are delivered within 3-5 days. Specials will be by arrangement with our Sales Office

• Can I prearrange a delivery day and/or time?

  Yes. Please contact our sales office on 0114-249563 who will be able to provide full details.

• Will you supply Styrofloor outside mainland Britain?

  Yes. Contact our sales office for details 0114-249563

• Can Styrofloor be collected?

  Styrofloor is available for collection from our warehouse on the Waleswood Industrial Estate S26 5PY, see the map on our contact page for more detail.

• Can Styrofloor be purchased locally?

  We do supply a range of builders merchants however we recommend that you contact our sales office for additional information.

• Where is Styrofloor manufactured?

  Styrofloor is manufactured in Sheffield UK. Styrofoam insulation is manufactured in Kings Lyn Norfolk by Dow Chemical Co. The chipboard is manufactured in Scotland.

• Can I open a trade account?
